The Heath Quartet make a welcome return to Maidenhead. Korngold’s quartet dates from his youth in Vienna before his later emigration to America and work as a leading composer in the golden age of Hollywood, whilst Janáček’s almost-filmic late work was famously inspired by his love for a younger woman.

Korngold: Quartet in A major, op. 16

Janáček: Quartet no. 2, ‘Intimate Letters’

Mendelssohn: Quartet in E-flat major, op. 44 no. 3
